After seeing a Bonnard exhibition in New York I thought I would like to use some decorative elements from his paintings on the walls of my bedroom. I started in one corner of the room, but found that I was not satisfied with taking just bits of his paintings, so I started copying the paintings in their entirety, but without the figures, as I wanted to be the figure in the painting.
It had been a childhood fantasy to live inside a painting. Covering my walls in this way made that possible. But soon I found that my furnishings didn't correspond well with the murals, so I either painted them to blend in or I found pieces that were just like the furniture in the paintings. The obsession grew and I hooked rugs and painted rugs to match. I painted dishes and my lampshades. I added murals to the living room, dining room, kitchen and hall. The space continues to evolve.
