Chardin, Ray

There has been speculation about the source for this image of Manet's cat in his famous painting of a courtesan, "Olympia". There are some drawings in Hokusai's Manga of cats that may be the source. But I always wondered if he wasn't inspired by Chardin's painting called "The Ray". It is currently housed in the Louvre and I suspect it was in the Louvre when Manet was alive.
